Job Description Controls Engineer or Process Automation Engineer
NO Sponsorship.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as an individual contributor with expertise in controls engineering.
Support multiple facilities (Ohio, Minnesota, Illinois) with a focus on:
Develop, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).
Support web handling, coating, and slitting processes (hot melt, solvent, emulsion, UV curing).
Integrate control systems with equipment like motors, sensors, and actuators.
Identifying needs for external resources or service agreements with contractors.
Potentially managing contractors for system maintenance and upgrades.
Build internal expertise in controls and reliability engineering, addressing the company’s lack of depth in this area.
Travel to various facilities to ensure teams have the necessary resources and support to improve operations and build bench strength.
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
510+ years of experience in controls engineering, with proficiency in PLC programming and HMI/SCADA development.
5+ years experience with web handling machinery and CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD).
Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
Six Sigma or PMP certification is a plus; multilingual skills (e.g., Spanish) advantageous.
