Primary Purpose
Deliver DWS product and materials based on customers’ need, and DOT and DWS standards in a courteous, efficient, and safe manner. Load and unload materials onto or off of trailers.

Essential Job Functions
Deliver product in a safe and efficient manner.
Help customer unload truck, if necessary.
Identify steel shapes and sizes.
Operate overhead cranes, forklifts, jib cranes, and gantry cranes to move materials.
Locate material as trained and instructed.
Locate beams, tubes, angle, channel, rebar, bar grating, pipe, plate, or rounds.
Load/unload trailers and railcars based on job sequences.
Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Attend all meetings as required by management.
Consistently and reliably work scheduled hours at assigned locations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Operate a commercial vehicle in a safe and professional manner.
Pass a DOT physical.
Understand and follow all established DOT guidelines.
Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, co‑workers, supervisors, and managers.
Understand and carry out semi‑complicated verbal and written instructions.
Read, write, and perform higher arithmetic computations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of whole numbers, decimals, and fractions.
Work under periodic supervision focused on progress and setting priorities for job completion.
Use tape measure accurately.
Pass the Drake‑Williams Steel, Inc. administered test covering shop drawing interpretation, fractional number calculations, and basic geometry.
Interpret shop orders and shop drawings.
Show pride in workmanship, attention to detail, and commitment to safety.
Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely and properly, using industry and Drake‑Williams Steel adopted hand signals.
Perform minor mechanical tasks on equipment (daily inspections, cleaning, etc.).
Multi‑task effectively.
Physical Demands
Stand, walk, and sit intermittently during an 8–12 hour shift.
Lift up to 35 pounds frequently from floor to head, and up to 50 pounds occasionally from knee to shoulders.
Carry weights up to 20 feet; climb and stoop as needed.
Reach forward, overhead, and pull/push materials regularly with forces ranging from 10 to 100 pounds.
Work in environments with occasional heat, cold, wet, humid, fumes, odors, dusts, solvents, greases, oils, and coolants.
Wear all required personal protective equipment.
Non‑Material Handling Demands
Work 40 hours per week; overtime and weekend work may be required.
Maintain adequate hearing and visual acuity.
Use safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, and hard hats.
Tools Required Pencil, tape measure, markers, chainsaw, grab hooks, pry‑bar, ladders, remote control, straps, cables, and chains.
Machines Utilized Tractor‑trailer, flatbed trailer, boom truck, 2‑ton truck, overhead crane, gantry crane, transfers, and forklifts.
Experience and Education Required
High School diploma or equivalent.
Current Class A CDL.
Minimum of 2 years driving experience (tractor/trailer/flatbed) with a clean driving record.
