Duties Summary The
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) II
provides a variety of practical nursing care, performs related technical work, may serve as "in charge" or team leader of assigned intermediate care patients in a ward or other patient care unit or a small facility on the evening or night shift, may supervise para‑medical assistants and other unlicensed personnel, and performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification Requirements
Legal Authorization To Work Requirement : The State of Hawaii requires all persons seeking employment with the government of the State shall be citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens of the United States, or eligible under federal law for unrestricted employment in the United States.
Hawaii Licensed Practical Nurse License : A valid State of Hawaii license to practice as a practical nurse (LPN) is required at the time of application. Note: A Registered Nurse (RN) License DOES NOT qualify as a substitution for a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) License.
Specialized Experience : ONE (1) YEAR of progressively responsible work experience as a (1) licensed practical nurse, (2) licensed vocational nurse, or (3) registered nurse in performing a variety of personal care, nursing care and related technical work under the direction of a higher‑level licensed practical nurse, registered nurse or a licensed physician, and which required the knowledge of and ability to apply practical nursing principles and practices. Applicants must have had one (1) year of experience comparable in scope and difficulty to the LPN I.
