Overview
The Nurse Navigator (NN) guides and supports patients through the preoperative surgical preparation process and acts as a liaison between patient, surgery scheduling, anesthesia, surgeon offices and preoperative areas (SPAC and Ambulatory Surgery). The NN ensures safe, efficient and accurate scheduling in a patient-centered continuum, including coordination of booking/pre-registration, preoperative patient education and preadmission testing.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary pre-surgical contact for patient, family, surgeon and surgical office staff.
Coordinate booking/pre-registration, preoperative patient education and preadmission testing.
Act as liaison between patient, surgery scheduling, anesthesia, surgeon offices and preoperative areas.
Respond to special patient needs requiring individual assistance.
Develop and maintain communication and collaboration between patient and staff involved with surgical services.
Work to further develop and refine the NN role and process.
Qualifications Required Qualifications
3 years experience in SPAC (Surgical Preadmission Center), medical/surgical nursing, surgical office, operating room or ambulatory surgery.
Working knowledge of perioperative patient care processes.
Current Illinois RN License.
Current American Heart Association HealthCare Provider BLS CPR or approved equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
BSN (Bachelor of Nursing).
Pay Range Hourly $33.91 - $51.04/hour.
