Senior Surety Claims Counsel
IAT Insurance Group is hiring a Senior Surety Claims Counsel to work from any IAT location with hybrid schedule Monday‑Wednesday in‑office and optional remote Thursday‑Friday. The role reports to the VP, Claims Counsel and works closely with the SVP & Chief Legal Officer.
Responsibilities
Interact with attorneys for claimants and owners, and field management staff to resolve complex claims issues and ensure cost‑effective solutions. Draft and negotiate documents such as Surety Takeover and/or Completion Agreements, correspondence, reports, and Exposure Analyses. Collaborate closely with underwriters in assigned regions. Review and analyze work‑in‑progress schedules, costs to complete, and accounts payable/receivable ledgers. Supervise outside counsel and consultants and review their bills before approval. Recommend reserves. Manage litigation and salvage recovery actions on assigned matters. Analyze payment bond claims and make recommendations regarding payment. Select, develop, motivate and train staff to achieve objectives. Monitor and evaluate employee performance. Perform other duties as needed. Must‑Have Qualifications
JD with 7+ years of relevant Surety Claims and/or Construction Law experience. Possession of an insurance adjuster license or ability to obtain one in assigned regions, or a license with reciprocity. Ability and willingness to travel as needed. Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications
Supervisory experience. The annual gross salary range for this position is $97,880 – $213,030. Total compensation includes base salary, performance‑based bonus opportunities, 401(k) match, profit‑sharing opportunities, and more. Actual salaries may vary based on qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographic location. Benefits
