Senior Project Manager – Power Generation HDR

This role is part of HDR’s national Power Generation team, which is positioned for rapid growth as the market for natural gas and renewable energy projects expands. As a Senior Project Manager, you will serve as the owner’s engineer and/or advisor for new utility‑scale power generation projects, working closely with clients, stakeholders, and multi‑disciplinary project teams.

Location Preferred locations include Austin, Ann Arbor, Boise, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Irvine, Minneapolis, Portland, San Diego, Seattle, Spokane, and St. Louis. Additional sites are available as needed.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain proactive client relationships.

Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals.

Lead proposal development, review contracts, and assess associated risks.

Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff.

Maintain clear communication of project plans, deliverables, and client expectations.

Monitor budgets and schedules, develop recovery plans for shortfalls, and keep the team on track.

Identify and manage scope changes in the contracted work.

Train and mentor staff on project management and consulting practices.

Guide design or consulting work within your engineering expertise.

Report project progress to local and regional accounting and operations teams.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.

Minimum 10 years of power generation project experience.

Registered Professional Engineer.

PMP certification.

Experience designing or managing simple and combined cycle EPC projects as owner, owner’s engineer, OEM, or EPC contractor.

Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.

Demonstrated business development skills.

Strong communication, leadership, planning, and mentoring skills.

Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe, and related project management software.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

10 years of related experience.

Minimum 5 years of project management experience.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management tools.

Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills.

Employment type: Full‑time, regular. Salary range: $118,703 – $223,125 (location varies).
