Senior Project Manager – Power Generation

Job Overview HDR’s national Power Generation team is expanding and seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to support natural gas and renewable energy generation projects. The role involves serving as an Owner’s Engineer and/or Advisor, maintaining client relationships, managing multi‑disciplinary project teams, and ensuring projects meet schedule, quality and profitability goals.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain positive and proactive client relationships.

Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals.

Serve as proposal champion/manager, reviewing contract terms, evaluating risks and assisting with proposal preparation.

Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff; communicate status to stakeholders.

Monitor project deliverables for quality, completeness and conformance to client expectations.

Proactively monitor and maintain the project budget and schedule; develop recovery plans for potential shortfalls.

Identify and manage scope changes, and monitor the contracted scope of work.

Provide training and mentoring to project team staff on project management and consulting issues.

Guide design or consulting work within the manager’s engineering expertise.

Report project progress to accounting and operations teams.

Perform additional duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a combination of a degree and relevant project experience.

Minimum 10 years of power generation project experience.

Registered Professional Engineer.

PMP Certification.

Experience designing or managing simple‑cycle and combined‑cycle EPC projects as owner, owner’s engineer, OEM or EPC contractor.

Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects.

Demonstrated business development skills.

Strong communication, leadership, planning and mentoring abilities.

Proficiency with MS Office, Adobe, and other relevant software.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in a related field.

10 years of related experience.

Minimum 5 years of project management experience.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.

Excellent organizational, project management and communication skills.
