Adjunct Faculty (Seasider Sports & Activities) This is a temporary, part‑time appointment for on‑island applicants. It is a semester‑to‑semester contract that may only involve teaching one class. No relocation benefits are associated with this position. Applications will be reviewed periodically; candidates will be notified by email if chosen for interview.

Job Summary Teach courses as needed by the program as a part‑time faculty member. Additional responsibilities may include advising students.

Activities (e.g., hula, hip‑hop, etc.)

Beginning Hula

Folk Dance of the Pacific

Sports (e.g., basketball, tennis, volleyball, etc.)

Primary Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate students in a specific field of expertise.

Develop and manage the class syllabus, ensuring it meets university standards.

Plan and create lectures, in‑class discussions, and assignments.

Grade assigned papers, quizzes, and exams.

Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.

Educational Background Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s or Doctorate in the subject area strongly preferred; must be from regionally accredited institutions. A strong commitment to excellence in teaching is advantageous.

Compensation Approximate starting adjunct semester contract: $1,425 – $2,175 per credit, depending on degree level and years of university‑level teaching experience.

Eligibility Requirements As an institution affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter‑day Saints, BYU‑Hawaii prefers to hire qualified members of the Church in good standing, as authorized under 41 C.F.R. An applicant who is a member of the Church must hold a current temple recommend and receive clearance from the Church’s Ecclesiastical Clearance Office. An expired temple recommend will prevent consideration for hire.
