Overview Counselor 3 - CA Los Angeles. Hybrid position in Los Angeles, CA (United States) with potential locations in Bakersfield, CA. Be the First to Apply. This role supports ecclesiastical leaders and staff through direct clinical services, consultation, and community resource development in a professional, private office setting and/or teletherapy.

Responsibilities

50-70% Exceptional Client Services Provider — deliver high-quality direct clinical care (including skills/treatment groups), maintain professionalism with accurate notes, consultations, and terminations; uphold data security and privacy practices; align with organizational priorities.

20-30% Team Builder and Contributor — collaborate with office staff, participate in agency council meetings, assist with licensure supervision when assigned, and respond promptly to needs from agency, region, and headquarters.

10-15% Trusted Collaborator — build relationships with ecclesiastical leaders and community resources; develop and fulfill whole service plans.

Up to 5% Professional Development — pursue ongoing professional development in modalities aligned with organizational values.

Qualifications

Education:

Master’s degree in social work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology or related degree that leads to clinical licensure.

Experience:

Minimum of five (5) years post-master’s professional experience including two (2) years post independent licensure. One year post independent licensure may be replaced by NOJOS and DOC Credentialing for Sensitive Cases Team.

Demonstrated Skills and Abilities:

Advanced clinical skills with receptiveness to feedback; skilled in facilitating skills/treatment groups; ability to provide clinical supervision of others pursuing licensure; professionalism with quality and timely notes, consultation, and terminations; refined consultation skills; ability to fulfill assignments from agency/regional managers (e.g., regional specialist, trainings, committees).

Licensing:

Hold and maintain current independent clinical license (LCSW, LMFT, LPC, or similar). May require multi-state licensure depending on service area. International licensure requirements vary by country.

Role Complexities:

Regular interactions/consultations with bishops, stake presidents, mission presidents, and general authorities. Focus is on therapy with limited case management; may include administration of support programs (e.g., Addiction Recovery).
