Job Overview SMG seeks a EHS Advisor - Owner's Rep in the San Francisco Bay area. The EHS Advisor will support the EHS team in overseeing contractor and employee safety during upcoming projects at Bay Area sites. They will serve as the Owner’s representative throughout renovations, decommissioning activities, and the relocation of operations within and between the sites.
Responsibilities
Coaching contractors and employees with proper execution of safety policies.
Routine reviews of project permits and JHA practices. Work with the permit users to correct any deficiencies.
Participate as necessary in pre-job safety reviews and daily safety planning.
Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification on high-risk activities.
Benchmark with other organizations/clients to pull in best practices to support the development of a stronger Safety Management System.
Serve as a liaison between stakeholders and contractors to support open communication during project execution.
Partner with all General Contractors and Project Team to help ensure proper implementation of and local/State/Federal safety requirements.
Conduct safety observations and verify appropriate corrective actions are established by GC to correct all unsafe conditions or practices.
Keep stakeholders informed of the safety performance of the contractors working on the project.
Facilitate Incident Reporting Procedures.
Become a Subject Matter Expert on the Bay Area policies and provide coaching to Project Management members and contractors on policies and OSHA interpretation.
Work with EHS Team to provide safety data analysis on project activity (leading and lagging indicators).
Look for continuous improvement opportunities within the program.
Requirements
7+ years of previous experience with Pharma, Labs, Risk Assessment, or Construction preferred.
Bachelor's degree in safety or related field.
Physical Demands
Moving about long distances.
Ascending/Descending stairs and laddars.
Remaining in a stationary position for a prolonged period.
Working in extreme weather.
Being exposed to loud noises.
Wearing personal protective gear correctly.
