About the Role Fivetran is building data pipelines to power the modern data stack for thousands of companies.

We're looking for a talented Senior Sales Engineer to join our Commercial sales team. As a Commercial Sales Engineer, you will work closely with our sales team to understand our Commercial customers' complex business needs and showcase how Fivetrans data replication solutions can help them achieve their desired business outcomes. You will be responsible for providing technical expertise, identifying technical requirements, and ensuring a successful proof‑of‑value throughout the sales cycle.

This is a full‑time, hybrid position based out of our Denver, CO or Oakland, CA offices. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in‑person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.

What You’ll Do

Work with Commercial customers to understand their business, their use cases, and their data replication requirements

Develop and deliver technical presentations to Commercial audiences

Ensure the technical win by running an organized proof‑of‑value process

Work closely with multiple cross‑fuctional organizations driving change and improvements to Fivetran as a whole

Work closely with multiple Sales representatives, while maintaining a high level of customer focus and technical excellence

Stay up‑to‑date on the latest technologies and trends in our industry

Assist team members in advanced technical or business roadblocks

Skills We're Looking For

4+ years in data replication, sales engineering, or related technical field

Strong technical background covering database replication, cloud infrastructure, and data replication technologies with some form of hands on experience

Experience with modern data analytics technologies, including cloud data warehouses, transformation tooling, data catalogs, and BI tools

Excellent communication and presentation skills with a keen ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders

Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills

Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL, and NoSQL databases

Hands on experience with other data replication or ETL tools

Experience with self‑hosted software applications and supporting infrastructure

Hands on networking experience both in the cloud and on‑premise

Bonus Skills

Experience developing partner relationships

Specialized expertise in security posture

Experience with self‑hosted and SaaS software applications

Hands on experience with DBT

Compensation Range Dollar compensation range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire compensation for the target position and level, and may include sales incentives or target bonuses depending on the role. Within the range, individual compensation is determined by additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, relevant education or training, business need, market demands. Denver Pay Range: $136,292.20 — $170,365.25 USD

OTE (On Target Earning): $34,073.05 — $42,591.32 USD
