Blythedale Children's Hospital, Westchester County, NY (approx 25 miles north of Manhattan) Pay Range

$25.50/hr (Base). Additional $$: evening/night differential pay, CNA certification pay. Job Summary

Under the direction of the nursing leader, the Nurse's Aide assists in performing a variety of duties related to the physical care of pediatric patients, including obtaining reports of patient assignments from the RN, providing meticulous care to each child, and maintaining compliance with regulatory agency codes and standards. Per diem nurse’s aides are eligible for evening and night shift differential pay and CNA certification pay. Responsibilities

Maintain unit and patients’ rooms compliant with regulatory agency codes and standards, obtain, record, and report vital signs to RN. Change patients to and from various adaptive equipment as recommended/directed by the therapists or RN; maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Assisting with or performing treatment procedures predetermined for each patient, feeding or assisting with feeding during meals/snacks. Assist patients with diapering/toileting/showers as necessary, repositioning assigned patients to promote skin integrity, muscle tone, and maintain body alignment; maintain excellent hand hygiene, adhere to precautions as required for each patient. Maintain professional boundaries and assist the nurse during emergency situations. Qualifications

Prior relevant job experience in a pediatric setting preferred. Weekend & Holiday commitment required. Education, Licensure, and Certification

High School Diploma or GED. CNA certification preferred. CNA positions require New York State Certification (LTC). Physical Requirements

Ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely, often with aid of equipment like lifts or slings. Must be able to lift a minimum of 35-40 lbs of equipment and patients. Most of the time at work: standing, walking, sitting, and fine motor coordination for biomedical equipment. Capability to work long shifts, including nights and weekends, while maintaining a high level of care. Ability to handle and operate medical equipment, take vital signs, and administer medications.
