Job Title: Finishing Manager
APEL Extrusions Location: Phoenix, AZ

APEL Extrusions, Inc. is an independent extruder, finisher and fabricator of aluminum extrusions, with six extrusion presses and a full array of finishing capabilities occupying over 600,000 square feet of modern manufacturing space employing approximately 300 people. With facilities in Calgary Canada, Coburg Oregon, and Phoenix Arizona, APEL serves the commercial, residential, and industrial markets of Western Canada and the Western United States.
The Anodizing Manager is responsible for safely leading and managing all operational aspects of the facility for the anodizing department, coordinating with Management on daily requirements and establishing plans to accommodate those goals with their production team. Reports to the Plant Manager.
Qualifications
Minimum 10 years of managerial experience in a manufacturing/plant environment required.
Preferred – experience with aluminum extrusions and finishing processes.
Bachelor’s degree.
5 years of experience in a manufacturing/plant environment.
2+ years of experience directly overseeing industrial paint or coatings operations preferred.
Ability to read, write, and understand English.
Highly Preferred – experience with contemporary scheduling and materials management knowledge including MRP, Demand Flow, JIT, Forecasting, Inventory Planning, Logistics, and Supply Chain design.

Duties
Monitor daily finishing production on a daily basis, ensuring work is conducted safely, on time, and on budget.
Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for finishing operations to ensure that productivity, efficiency, and quality are monitored for performance and that action is taken if corrective action is needed.
Ensure that all company quality processes and procedures are executed properly.
Monitor environmental health and safety (EHS) processes and procedures and take corrective action to ensure the safety of all plant personnel, customers, vendors, contractors and other facility visitors.
Establish priorities and initiatives with the maintenance department for equipment availability (maximize uptime).Assist with appropriate production scheduling and availability of resources to meet customer requirements at lowest cost.
Work with management to design and implement strategies for operational improvement.
Actively stay up to date with the latest production and maintenance technologies to assist in the advancement of company capabilities.
Work with the executive and sales teams to proactively prepare operations for growth – provide depth, insight, and commitment to communicate and coordinate plans through the efforts of finishing operations.
Actively drive continuous improvement and Lean initiatives.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience in successfully developing strong teams and strong relationships with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and customers.
Experience in managing safety, quality, productivity, and cost.
Experience and training in Lean and Six Sigma concepts.
