Job Description The Sr Disaster Recovery Administrator works with IT technical and business teams as well as vendors to assist in the development, implementation and maintenance of the GM Financial IT Disaster Recovery program. The program includes disaster recovery planning, IT risk assessment, disaster recovery exercises and other ongoing initiatives to enhance IT recoverability capabilities. This role is located in Arlington, TX with a flexible hybrid work environment (onsite 2 days a week/3 days remote). Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a GM Financial IT Disaster Recovery Program
Consult on the development and maintenance of a Disaster Recovery plan and runbooks for stated scope business critical applications
Monitor the deployment and changes of applications and infrastructure for impacts to Disaster Recovery‑related contingency planning
Serve as the Disaster Recovery Manager ensuring that the Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) and the Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) are met in exercises
Guide and provide work direction to IT subject matter experts as their roles pertain to Disaster Recovery
Participate in vendor Disaster Recovery Exercises to ensure vendors can recover critical services provided to GMF
Provide ongoing review of Disaster Recovery scope services and support to align with budget planning
Assess technical risks and provide timely mitigation and remediation plans. Evaluate new technology and tools and build business cases for their use
Participate in cross‑functional reviews and identify high risk areas pertaining to Disaster Recovery scope
Coordinate with Business Continuity teams to ensure business expectations are met
Qualifications Knowledge and Skills
Advanced knowledge of disaster recovery and business continuity processes and tools needed
A broad understanding of information technology in order to assist in preparation of recovery procedures for all areas
Advanced knowledge and understanding of industry standard disaster recovery planning techniques and technologies as well as methods used in performing risk analysis and business impact analysis
Ability to skillfully react and adapt to a constantly changing business and IT work environment
Demonstrated interpersonal and leadership abilities working with cross‑functional teams
Demonstrated success in project management
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills in order to interface with all levels within the business and IT organizations
Creative, innovative, problem‑solving and maximizing potential to solve problems and improve methods
Work Experience
5+ years of experience in an Information Technology discipline required
4–6 years of experience in disaster recovery/business continuity planning lifecycle methodology preferred
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience preferred
Licenses and Certifications
Professional certification(s) in the field of Information Technology or Disaster Recovery (for example CBCP, DRCS, CISSP) preferred
