Introduction to the Team We’re looking for a visionary Principal Product Manager to lead the Search Platform for Lodging Search at Expedia Group. This highly influential individual contributor will architect the future of semantic search and ranking infrastructure across our lodging ecosystem. You’ll drive platform capabilities that power personalized, high‑performance search experiences across global brands such as Expedia.com, Hotels.com, and Vrbo. This strategic leadership role demands deep technical fluency, cross‑functional collaboration, and a bold vision for scalable, ML‑powered systems that elevate travel discovery worldwide.
In this Role, You Will:
Own the Lodging Search Platform roadmap with a focus on semantic search and ranking.
Define and deliver platform capabilities that support high‑quality, personalized search experiences across brands.
Collaborate with ML teams to productionize models for relevance, ranking, and semantic understanding.
Partner with Search Experience and Recommendations teams to ensure seamless orchestration and API design.
Drive platform scalability, performance, and configurability across global markets.
Monitor industry trends in semantic search, vector search, and retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG) to spark innovation.
Advocate for technical excellence, including model lifecycle management, tech debt reduction, and responsible AI practices.
Mentor PMs and contribute to building a world‑class Search Platform team.
Influence product strategy and investment decisions based on business impact and platform leverage.
Leverage data analytics and ML expertise to identify opportunities that enhance customer experience.
Resolve escalations across workstreams to ensure alignment with broader product strategy and vision.
Build clear requirements in ambiguous and complex scenarios requiring negotiation across multiple teams.
Demonstrate ability to align and influence stakeholders beyond the product team and positively impact department‑level strategy.
Contribute to a culture of inclusivity, respect, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
10+ years of product management experience, with deep expertise in e‑commerce search infrastructure, ML‑powered systems, and semantic search or equivalent experience.
Proven success in building platforms that support large‑scale, high‑traffic consumer experiences.
Strong technical fluency in search architecture, ML model lifecycle, and API design.
Experience working with e‑commerce search, ranking systems, or recommendation engines.
Preferred Qualifications
Ability to influence engineering, data science, and design teams.
Strategic thinker with a bias for action and a passion for solving complex problems.
Experience in travel, marketplaces, or personalization platforms.
Experience with multimodal search, vector search, or retrieval‑augmented generation (RAG).
Compensation The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $224,000.00 to $313,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $358,500.00, which is the top of the range based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
