Your Opportunity We have an exciting Senior Director of Grow/Finish opportunity in South Central, KS. As the Senior Director of Grow/finish at Seaboard Foods, your mission is to lead and optimize the growing phase of our operations, overseeing approximately 1.2 million spaces across nursery, finishing, and wean-to-finish stages. Your primary focus will be fostering a culture of excellence, improving livability, driving continuous improvement, reducing and controlling costs, and leveraging data and analytics to make data-driven decisions. You will collaborate closely with support departments to ensure seamless operations and maintain our industry-leading position.

Responsibilities

Instill a culture of best practices, high standards, and accountability among your team and across the growing pig phase.

Prioritize the well-being and health of the pigs, implementing strategies to improve livability rates and overall animal care.

Ensure the safety and well-being of all employees involved in the growing pig phase, implementing and enforcing safety protocols and practices to minimize risks and accidents while maintaining a safe work environment.

Continuously assess and optimize processes, technologies, and practices to enhance productivity and efficiency while maintaining top-tier animal welfare standards.

Develop and execute cost-reduction strategies while maintaining the highest quality standards in pig production.

Utilize data-driven insights to inform decision-making, monitor key performance indicators, and implement data-driven solutions to production challenges.

Manage and develop a team of Production Managers and Directors, providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities.

Work closely with support functions such as veterinary services, supply chain, and quality assurance to ensure seamless production operations.

Contribute to the overall strategic planning of the company, aligning growing pig operations with broader corporate goals.

Ensure full compliance with all industry regulations and standards related to pig production and animal welfare.

Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and industry associations, to stay current with industry trends and developments.

Core Competencies Instills trust, communicates effectively, action-oriented, ensures accountability, and drives results.

Required Qualifications

Animal Science Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university; or two to four or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

5+ Years in demonstrated ability of production results and leadership development in a commercial swine production, sow, finish, or nursery.

Must exhibit strong technical swine production knowledge.

Must have strong communication skills.

Valid driver’s license and clear motor vehicle record (MVR).

Bilingual, English and Spanish are required.

Preferred Qualifications

Intermediate in Microsoft Office; Word and Excel and COGNOS, preferred.

Schedule As needed, the hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.

Work Environment

The employee is regularly required to move around the facility.

The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 300 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Primarily an office environment with some need to work in the field.

Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is dependent on which environment you are in.

The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
