Responsibilities
Drive the successful completion of controls projects, ensuring delivery within specified timelines and budgets
Proactively manage scope changes, conduct thorough assessments of controls materials and systems, and negotiate contracts to ensure project success
Organize direct controls personnel, supervise subcontractors, and ensure timely delivery of controls equipment and resources
Review project status reports, analyze controls system performance, and determine required actions for project success
Facilitate and participate in project meetings to align with customer expectations and company controls standards
Lead pre‑job planning sessions focused on controls integration, ensuring clear understanding of technical requirements among team members
Assemble and review controls project estimates, ensuring proper loading into the project cost system
Communicate all controls‑related project issues to management in a timely manner
Document planning meeting results and ensure all controls action items are completed
Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with master schedules and resolving conflicts related to controls work
Prepare and submit monthly contract billings to ensure proper cash flow during contract performance
Protect the company’s interests by managing all financial aspects of controls contracts
Complete project closeout/inactivation, including final billing and documentation for controls systems
Manage conflict resolution with customers, vendors, trades, or partners related to controls scope
Lead and mentor other project managers and controls technicians, sharing technical expertise and experience
Identify and develop policies and procedures for continuous improvement in controls project delivery
Visit job sites, perform work inspections, check controls job progress, and resolve project and contract issues
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Sciences, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering field with a focus on controls or building automation
Minimum of 7 years of proven experience in successfully leading controls projects and programs within the construction or engineering industry
Demonstrated success in delivering controls projects on schedule and within budget
Strong interpersonal skills to influence and drive change, facilitate performance, and enhance collaboration within a cross‑functional controls environment
Proven ability to deliver results and accountability for business needs in controls project management
Decisiveness in resolving controls‑related business problems, making technical decisions, and identifying priorities
Qualifications
Hands‑on experience with major controls platforms (e.g., Siemens, Distech, Johnson Controls, Tridium Niagara)
Proficiency in reading and interpreting controls blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets
Experience with controls software, programming, and commissioning
Familiarity with network protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) and integration of controls systems
Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices in controls environments
Preferred Qualifications
Hands‑on experience with major controls platforms (e.g., Siemens, Distech, Johnson Controls, Tridium Niagara)
Proficiency in reading and interpreting controls blueprints, wiring diagrams, and device data sheets
Experience with controls software, programming, and commissioning
Familiarity with network protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks) and integration of controls systems
Commitment to safety, quality, and ethical business practices in controls environments
