The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer who is highly experienced and hands-on, will lead critical initiatives in equipment reliability, tooling, and technology integration. This role will be responsible for developing and managing the plant‑wide preventive maintenance (PM) program, overseeing the tool room, and designing custom machine parts and tooling to support ongoing operations and capital investments. The engineer will also lead the integration of new machinery and advanced technologies into production. This position requires a deep understanding of manufacturing systems, strong mechanical design skills, and a commitment to Lean principles and operational excellence. This Exempt, on‑site position reports directly to the Process Engineering Manager at the CT facility.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) Program across all manufacturing equipment
Lead day‑to‑day operations of the Tool Room, ensuring timely availability of tooling, spare parts, and custom components
Design and detail custom machine components, fixtures, and tooling using SolidWorks or equivalent CAD software
Lead the specification, selection, and integration of new manufacturing machinery and automation technologies
Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, and Engineering teams to optimize equipment uptime and reliability
Identify and implement opportunities to improve equipment performance, safety, and cost‑efficiency
Manage capital improvement projects related to equipment upgrades and new technology integration
Work closely with vendors for machine part fabrication, custom builds, and system upgrades
Maintain accurate documentation for PM schedules, tooling drawings, machine modifications, and project plans
Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards in equipment design and operation
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on experience with industrial equipment and systems
Proficient in CAD software (SolidWorks required) for part and tooling design
Solid knowledge of PM program development and CMMS platforms
Demonstrated experience managing tool rooms or precision fabrication environments
Familiarity with machinery integration, automation systems, and process equipment design
Experience in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and Six Sigma methodologies
Strong project management skills with ability to lead cross‑functional initiatives
Excellent problem‑solving and root cause analysis skills
Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, production‑oriented environment
EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field
7+ years of experience in a manufacturing engineering role, preferably within a high‑mix or continuous manufacturing environment
Hands‑on experience with PM systems, machine design, and production equipment integration
Proficiency in SolidWorks, Microsoft Office Suite, and project tracking tools
Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred
