Pay Range:

Key Responsibilities
Apply expertise in materials, simulation, and manufacturing techniques to define and develop complex mechanical solutions
Act as the mechanical lead for intricate systems
Produce and maintain documentation across the product lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and validation
Perform root‑cause failure analysis and lead validation testing
Drive strategic investments in tooling and technologies to address current and future challenges
Mechanical Design
Provide high‑level system design input with specialists across functions
Work across opto‑mechanics, structures, tolerances, and materials
Produce production‑ready communication assets, including drawings and GD&T
Mechanical Analysis
Use FEA or similar tools to assess reliability and performance of components and systems in harsh conditions
Documentation
Maintain requirements, 2D/3D drawings, design documents, system specs, BOMs, test plans/reports, and assembly SOPs
Key Requirements and Technology Experience
Strong mechanical design fundamentals
CAD modeling (NX/Onshape)
GD&T knowledge and tolerancing
Design for manufacturability (DFM)
Creativity in designing new systems
Mechanical system design with independent ownership
Tolerance understanding
NX or Onshape modeling proficiency
Manufacturing processes: machining, sheet metal, welding, injection molding, casting, composites, additive manufacturing
Engineering materials: metals, polymers, adhesives, lubricants, ceramics, composites, suitable for outdoor, high‑temperature, and high‑humidity environments
Strong communication and proactive project updates
Presentation and report generation for decisions, investigations, and analyses
GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and CAD modeling/drawing best practices
Opto‑mechanics knowledge
Experience with mechanical simulation tools (FEA, CFD)
Understanding of PLM and lifecycle impacts
Ability to create clear and complete ECRs
Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
6+ years in mechanical engineering or related discipline
