Job Description As a Structural Steel Engineer at Tutor Perini, reporting to the Structural Steel Manager, you will assist in the overall management of a project from inception to completion by ensuring safety, quality, profitability, and schedule meet or exceed goals. This includes planning, organizing, and controlling coordination activities, establishing project schedules, and performing post‑project activities.
Responsibilities
Participate in project safety programs, observations, and audits
Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with project-related tasks
Identify and propose changes to improve productivity and quality on the project
Communicate effectively with Project Owner/Designer/Architect/Engineering regarding project schedule, issues, and activities
Develop RFIs, work plans, and submittals for the project
Track and report quantities of work performed and understand associated costs
Develop time and material final pricing submittals
Assist with CPM schedule development and maintenance
Maintain as-built drawings with assistance from field staff
Perform project-specific tasks assigned by higher-level manager
Understand and communicate contract scope to field staff
Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
B.S. in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent from an accredited institution
Minimum of 8 years’ experience in structural steel erection, heavy civil construction, bridge, vertical construction, or other steel structures
Experience actively interfacing with fabricators, subcontractors, and owners to resolve design, procurement, and constructability issues
Coordination of contract drawings, design drawings, and shop drawings to facilitate an erectable final structure
Experience interfacing with design and construction engineers to develop thorough "means & methods" processes
Accurately realize "to‑date" costs and project "final" costs through completion
Proficiency with MS Office products (Word/Excel)
Excellent written and verbal skills
