Job Description
Through its Forever Chocolate initiative, Barry Callebaut has committed globally to four bold sustainability targets to shift industry practices, become a sustainability leader, and secure its business and the ingredients for its business, into the future. To do so, it needs to drive a proactive and progressive sales, marketing and communications strategy to effectively engage with and influence customers to become partners in achieving the ambitious program goals.
The Business Development Manager – Sustainability is a crucial member of the regional commercial team, responsible for driving the strategy and implementing key initiatives underpinning the strategy across the Americas Region.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as internal and external lead on sustainability program design and implementation for BC Americas
Lead the annual and mid-term planning and execution of key initiatives/activities to drive sustainable sales for the Region in line with Forever Chocolate ambition
Build relationships with sustainability leadership and teams within top Global and Regional customers; engage directly with select key accounts to jointly develop and implement sustainability programs and communications
Develop marketing and external communication materials in support of building awareness and urgency in adopting sustainable practices/purchasing sustainable ingredients
Develop and deploy sales training and materials and by artisans & chefs as well as top consumer Brands
Support sales teams in customer meetings on sustainability topics and conversion efforts
Where relevant, develop and implement retail strategies.
Manage and communicate forecasts for sustainable products in partnership with sales, marketing and demand planning teams
Develop sustainability-related customer proposals and long-term supply contracts
Collaborate with global teams, as well as regional sustainability colleagues to share best practices and scale-up activities
Partner with cocoa origin teams on sustainability-related projects to ensure execution and reporting
Coordinate and facilitate customer visits to cocoa origin countries
Qualifications
Minimum 3-5 years corporate sustainability or environmental management experience
Experience leading cross-functional teams without direct reporting line
Ability to manage multiple activities, prioritize, manage time efficiently, and meet deadlines
Excellent, stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills
Strong, relevant external network & networking capabilities
Ability to develop a fast, deep understanding of the business and upcoming challenges
Able to work high level in order to develop strategy and willing to dive into details to execute
Fluent in English; French fluency a plus
MS Excel analysis and PowerPoint presentation skills
Travel 20-25%; internationally 2-3 times per year
