Completion of an associate of applied science degree in disabilities with a speech/language support emphasis, or a bachelor’s degree in speech-language pathology from an accredited institution, and possession of a State of Alaska SpeechLanguage Pathologist Assistant license.
Completion of 100 hours of verified field work supervised by a licensed speech-language pathologist. Individuals employed in a position for at least one (1) year preceding July 1, 2004, that includes the practice of speech-language pathologist assistant as defined in AS 08.11.042 may qualify for registration as an SLP-A under the transitional requirements described below. Proof that the individual has been employed in a position for at least one year preceding July 1, 2004, that includes the practice of speech-language pathologist assistant as defined in AS 08.11.042.
Successful completion of the competency-based checklist examination from the Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant Registration Application Packet through the Alaska Division of Occupational Licensing.
Job Summary The licensed speech-language pathology assistant (SLP-A) administers direct and indirect intervention for students to assist a speech-language pathologist in the provision of clinical‑educational services for students with speech‑language disorders.
New Hire Starting Hourly Rate:
Grade 11: $30.75 - $34.50 DOE
Internal Hourly Rate:
Determined by the ESSA Negotiated Agreement
Work Hours:
7.5 hours
Work Year:
9 months
