Job Description

About Sola

Sola is building the agentic automation platform powering the enterprises of tomorrow. Founded in 2023 by Jessica Wu and Neil Deshmukh (MIT alums, ex-IBM Watson, Citadel Securities, MGH / BWH), we’ve raised $21M in total funding from a16z and Conviction , with additional backing from Y Combinator (S23) and the founders of Dropbox, Zoom, Zapier, Scale, and more.

In just one year, Sola has been adopted by Fortune 500s, top U.S. law firms, and leading private enterprises across finance, healthcare, legal, and supply chain.

Our team in NYC includes industry leaders who have built and scaled world‑class businesses, contributed to top quant funds, crypto projects, and research labs—and been founders themselves.

What We’re Building

AI-enabled error correction algorithms

Agentic workflow orchestration

Markov decision models with AI inputs

AI desktop infrastructure

Our workflow automation product is just the beginning—the hardest challenges are still ahead.

If you’re excited to bring Figma-level UI / UX excellence to automation and build trusted tools for mission‑critical processes, we’d love to meet you.

As a Senior Backend Engineer, you will:

Own systems that automate repetitive work across hundreds of browser and desktop platforms, handling concurrency, reliability, and observability at scale

Collaborate with our CTO and ML research partners to bring state‑of‑the‑art agentic workflows into production

Architect and scale backend infrastructure to power our visual workflow builder – a Figma‑style interface used daily by non‑technical ops teams

Design and implement services that integrate with cutting‑edge AI models to generate workflows, parse documents, and drive adaptive execution logic

Deploy and manage services in Kubernetes, ensuring scalability, resilience, and performance in production environments

What We’re Looking For

Fluency in Typescript and Python (both required)

Hands‑on experience with Kubernetes (designing, deploying, and scaling production services)

4+ years of experience building scalable distributed systems at enterprise scale (the more battle scars, the better)

Prior experience at an early‑stage startup

Proven ability to collaborate with engineers and PMs to break down high‑level goals into shippable milestones

Must be available in NYC (we’ll cover relocation)

Nice to have: prior experience with distributed workflow orchestration such as Cadence or Temporal.io

Benefits

Where: In‑person in NYC (we believe the best work happens together)

Compensation: Competitive salary + meaningful equity

Healthcare: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision (Big Tech level)

401k: Easy enrollment with smart savings options

️ Meals: Daily lunches, dinners, and snacks

️ Time Off: Up to 4 weeks flexible PTO

Join us if you want to shape the future of automation, push the boundaries of AI‑driven systems, and work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with a world‑class NYC team.

Compensation Range : $160K - $200K
