We are seeking a highly skilled Project Manager Consultant to join our team in Columbia, SC. This role focuses on managing IT and cybersecurity projects, ensuring they align with business and security objectives. Base pay range $70.00/hr - $75.00/hr

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Project Documentation & Analysis: Prepare essential project documentation such as needs analyses, business cases, and feasibility studies to support security and IT initiatives. Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Project Lifecycle Management: Manage and direct all phases of the project lifecycle—initiation, planning, execution, control, and closeout—for small to mid-sized projects, with a focus on cybersecurity and IT modernization.

Project Coordination & Methodology: Coordinate and manage projects using established project management methodologies. Define, prioritize, and track project requirements to ensure alignment with business and security objectives.

Work Planning & Communication: Develop detailed work plans and manage project scope, budget, and schedule. Oversee the execution of communication plans, including updates to agency leadership, stakeholders, and, when applicable, the public.

Status Reporting & Change Management: Prepare regular status reports and provide updates to project sponsors, champions, and stakeholders. Coordinate change requests and recommend adjustments to project specifications as needed.

Risk & Quality Management: Identify potential risks and facilitate resolution through mitigation strategies. Assist in developing quality management plans and ensure project design and execution comply with federal/state laws, agency policies, and cybersecurity standards (e.g., NIST CSF, FISMA).

Other Duties as Assigned: Perform additional project-related duties as required to support the successful delivery of agency initiatives.

Required Skills

3-5 years of Project Management Expertise

3-5 years of Cybersecurity Knowledge, including familiarity with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF) and related standards (e.g., NIST 800-53, FISMA)

3-5 years of experience working in an IT environment

Preferred Skills

3 years' experience working with one or more state agencies in a Project Manager role for information security projects or initiatives

Experience with security and information technology compliance related to CDC, HIPAA, and CJIS

PMP Certification

Education Requirement Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of work or equivalent 5 years of work experience.
