HEAD COACH – WOMEN’S SOCCER – PART-TIME

RICHARD J DALEY COLLEGE

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:

The Head Coach oversees an intercollegiate athletic team and provides leadership in the development and evaluation of the team and individual student‑athletes. Provides dynamic, strategic and visionary leadership designed to enhance student success through the focus on an “Academics‑first Agenda.”

OTHER INFORMATION All coaches are hired on a season‑by‑season basis. A reasonable effort is made to assure future coaching assignments to those coaches who have had a history of successful academic and athletic team performances at City Colleges of Chicago. All coaching assignments are conditioned on sufficient team membership. Once a season starts, the Head Coach is expected to complete the season.

DEVISES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Recruit student‑athletes for participation in intercollegiate athletics and cooperate with academic advisers to support their academic progress.

Implement the District‑wide Athletic Department strategy focused on an “Academics‑first Agenda” and assist the campus Athletic Director in monitoring student‑athlete academic progress.

Assist players in reaching their highest athletic potential through training and leadership skills; recruit, counsel and advise students, prepare athletes for competition through well‑organized practices and contests.

Enforce and maintain an athletic program policy of educating and graduating student athletes, working closely with the Athletic Director, Dean of Students and other administrators to assure eligibility.

Plan and direct training of student athletes, assess individual abilities to determine appropriate positions, and conduct in‑season and off‑season practice and conditioning programs.

Assure compliance with NJCAA rules and regulations, monitor academic, conduct and physical requirements, and maintain records and statistics for reporting to NJCAA and regional agencies.

Prepare and manage the sport budget in collaboration with the campus Athletic Director.

Coordinate fundraising activities and work with the District Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and the campus Athletic Director.

Recruit, interview and recommend the hiring and termination of Assistant Coaches.

Develop and build relationships with four‑year institutions.

Assist in the implementation of professional development activities for Athletic Department personnel.

Enforce the District/College’s academic, student and athletic code of conduct, supervise athletes during practice, contests and travel, and may drive college vehicles for contests.

Report contest results to the Sports Information Assistant and provide publicity information to the Director of Athletics.

Schedule games and tournaments in cooperation with the campus Athletic Director and Facilities Coordinator.

Coordinate care and reporting of incidents and injuries.

Prepare a season summary and advocate for student honors within conference and region.

Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.

Perform related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Completion of a bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Physical Education or related field, supplemented by 4‑6 years of coaching and/or collegiate/professional playing experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the sport.

Coaching Certification preferred.

Current CPR/AED certification by the American Heart Association or the Red Cross required.

Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning and leadership skills required.

Ability to serve as a positive role model for young adults.

Familiar with NJCAA rules and regulations.

COMPENSATION The pay for this position is a $2000.00 stipend for recruiting purposes. Offered salary will be determined based on sport and applicant’s years of experience.
