Created in 1986, we are a community-based non-profit currently operating in Contra Costa, Solano, Sacramento, and Marin counties. In 2024 our compassionate teams helped 5,824 people including 1,938 children secure or maintain their housing.

Compensation Compensation: $18.50/hour
About the role This position is responsible for day-to-day participant and facility needs during shift, including responsibility for participant meals, supplies/inventory, facility safety/repairs, cleanliness of the site, interacting with visitors/volunteers. Year-round, 24/7 operations requiring willingness to work schedules including evenings, weekends, and holiday.
High level of professionalism that includes integrity and strong ethical values to show capacity to maintain highest standards of confidentiality with all records, including organizational and individual information.
Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Exercises good judgment to handle challenging situations.
Adaptability/flexibility.
Quality control of facility environment.
Collaboration with clients and volunteers.
Timeliness on completion of tasks.
Crisis intervention and conflict resolution skills.
Patience/tolerance and tact/diplomacy.
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, Outlook.
Position Requirements
Access to reliable personal transportation required, including a DMV record that permits driver to be insured under SHELTER, Inc.’s automobile coverage.
Must successfully pass a criminal background check.
Must provide TB test clearance.
