SQL Database Administrator

Overview Application DBA role. This position will be working with application developers to store and retrieve their business objects and other data efficiently in databases (PostGreSQL and MongoDB). The candidate should be an expert in creating table structures that map nicely to business classes and do so in a way that queries to store and retrieve that data are quick and reliable.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with application developers to store and retrieve data efficiently in PostgreSQL and MongoDB; design table structures that map to business classes and support fast, reliable queries.

Create stored procedures using languages such as TSQL; monitor and optimize indexes and queries as databases and workloads change; help developers troubleshoot data component issues.

Analyze legacy application data stores, plan and execute migrations from on-premises SQL Server to cloud-based databases.

Assist migrating data to Google Cloud for analytical reporting.

Support the existing SQL Server-based infrastructure until migration is complete.

Qualifications

Experience with PostgreSQL and MongoDB; ability to design data models that map to business objects.

Familiarity with TSQL and stored procedures; experience with query tuning and index optimization.

Experience with data migrations and cloud-based database services.

Nice to have: familiarity with Redis cache.
