Job Summary East Tennessee State University (ETSU) invites applications for the College of Nursing Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship (ADRS). ETSU seeks a visionary leader who, in coordination with the Dean, will foster the College’s leadership role and lead faculty in research innovation and excellence.

The Associate Dean will provide administrative leadership, facilitate development of faculty and research, scholarship, and program grants through the Center for Nursing Research, and build research infrastructure supporting extramural funding and high‑impact research.

This role will also mentor faculty in developing program grants for education, training, and service initiatives, foster inter‑institutional research partnerships, ensure compliance with university and funding guidelines, and provide teaching, research, and service duties in person on campus.

Key Responsibilities

Provide administrative leadership and support faculty and staff in obtaining extramural funding.

Develop and manage program grants supporting education, training, and service initiatives.

Foster inter‑institutional research partnerships and mentor faculty in grant proposals.

Ensure compliance with university and funding regulations.

Serve as a teaching, research, and service faculty member on campus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Extensive contemporary knowledge and research experience in nursing or interdisciplinary research.

Demonstrated record of scholarship with high‑impact peer‑reviewed publications and presentations.

Proven experience in data collection, analysis, and data‑based decision making.

Ability to build collaborations and coordinate multiple programs among faculty and community constituents.

Exemplary record of securing external/extramural funding from federal agencies or national foundations.

Knowledge of federal, state, and local research regulations and compliance.

Ability to educate, mentor, and support faculty, staff, and students regarding research.

Experience leading faculty mentorship programs in research and grant development.

Required Qualifications

PhD in Nursing or related field.

Eligible for tenure at the Associate Professor level or above.

Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Tennessee or compact state.

Demonstrated history of successful extramural funding and publications.

Effective communication and leadership skills.Evidence of progressive leadership responsibilities in academic research administration.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate degree in Nursing.

Demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to the profession.Demonstrated ability to obtain research funding at the federal level.

Salary Commensurate with education and experience.

Other Details Position is subject to a criminal background check. Funding is from internal source. Open until filled.
