IAT Insurance Group is seeking a highly skilled Senior Commercial Surety Underwriter to join our team in Newark, New Jersey. This role will handle most aspects of daily interaction with assigned agents regarding new and existing accounts, which includes gathering, analyzing, and evaluating all information on an account and making a recommendation or decision to the Regional Manager based on that information.
The role works a hybrid schedule from an IAT Office. The hybrid schedule requires working from the office Monday through Wednesday, with the option of working Thursday and Friday remotely.
Responsibilities
Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities
Financial and account analysis of pertinent financial data, authority, and referral requirements for consideration of new, existing and renewal business
Requesting and gathering financial information on assigned accounts
Market independently to our agent and broker partners with an emphasis on production
Enhance IAT’s presence in the marketplace
Provide quality recommendations to Branch and Home Office Reports on assigned accounts and agents
Rate and review bonds for premium and classification accuracy
Ensure accuracy and completeness of files and verify that all necessary documentation is complete in the file
Serve as key contact for assigned target accounts.
Prioritize workflow to ensure work is done in a timely fashion and all deadlines are met
Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, at least 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
Equivalent is defined as 8 years of relevant bond underwriting experience.
Must have two years of surety underwriting experience.
Passion for marketing and developing relationships.
Strong competency in quantitative and financial analysis.
Requires strong math aptitude, excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal and negotiating skills.
Must be customer service oriented and have the utmost integrity.
To qualify, applicants must be authorized to work in the United States and must not require VISA sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment purposes.
Preferred to Have
AFSB industry designation.
Compensation Please note, that the annual gross salary range associated with this posting is $163,270 – $137,880. This range represents the anticipated low and high end of the base salary for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on factors such as a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and geographical location related to this specific role. The total compensation will include a base salary, performance-based bonus opportunities, 401(K) match, profit‑sharing opportunities, and more.
