The College of Computing at Grand Valley State University is expanding and inviting applications for both tenured and tenure‑track positions across all ranks. While all areas of Computer Science or closely related fields are encouraged to apply, preference will be given to candidates with a teaching and/or research background in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, Data Science, Quantum Computing, High Performance Computing, Health and Bioinformatics, and Human‑Centered Computing/Design to fill multiple positions beginning or before August 2026. We offer competitive salaries and generous start‑up packages to support faculty in initiating and sustaining their research projects.
Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor students, establish a robust, externally funded research program, and publish in peer‑reviewed journals and conference proceedings. Faculty may also hire PhD students and act as advisor through a partnership with the University of Michigan‑Flint.

Faculty can contribute by teaching in comprehensive degree programs and designing new programs to prepare career‑ready talent in cutting‑edge areas of computing. Opportunities exist to expand our research and teaching portfolio and increase impact via multidisciplinary collaborations. The College of Computing offers ABET‑accredited undergraduate programs, several minors, badges, and graduate degrees. Grand Valley has over 24,000 students, more than 50 full‑time faculty, approximately 1,000 undergraduate students, and 400 graduate students. We focus on experiential learning with opportunities for faculty‑industry collaboration via our Applied Computing Institute, the Institute for Cybersecurity Education and Research, and the newly established GVSU Hub on Advanced Computing Research.
Salary & Benefits Assistant Professor:
Minimum starting salary of $105,000, commensurate with experience.
Associate Professor:
Minimum starting salary of $125,000, commensurate with experience.
Full Professor:
Minimum starting salary of $160,000, commensurate with experience.
Comprehensive benefits package including medical, vision, dental, life insurance, generous employer retirement contributions, wellness resources, and tuition waiver effective on the date of hire.
Primary Duties
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses
Mentor undergraduate and graduate students
Establish a robust, externally funded research program
Publish in peer‑reviewed journals and conference proceedings
Required Qualifications and Education
Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related field by the appointment date
Record of teaching excellence commensurate with desired rank
Record of research and scholarly publications commensurate with desired rank
Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
Record of external funding commensurate with desired rank
Record of leadership and mentorship commensurate with desired rank
Applicants for tenured Associate and Full Professor must have academic experience demonstrating excellent teaching and a strong scholarship record, with a history of successful grant writing.
Working Conditions Normal office environment. Some travel may be required.
