Quality Engineer
with
3‑5 years of experience
to lead quality systems, drive continuous improvement, and support vendor assurance.

Degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)

Job Description SUMMARY The Quality Engineer will act as the administrator of the quality system at each location. Responsibilities span quality administration, quality engineering, continuous improvement, and vendor quality assurance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Suggest and debate alternative methods and procedures to solve quality problems and implement continuous process improvement.
Provide direction and leadership to implement Zero Defects principles, the 14 steps of the QIP, and support the Quality Improvement Team.
Develop and analyze data, product specifications, and quality expectations for finished products.
Cooperate with top management to formulate policies, operating procedures, and performance goals.
Develop and modify the company’s product assurance program and operational procedures.
Assist managers in meeting quality performance and improvement objectives, maximizing product quality while minimizing costs.
Advise and mentor staff in inspection and testing activities to maintain continuous control over materials, equipment, processes, and products.
Schedule and lead meetings with management to establish policies, coordinate operations, and define responsibilities.
Review technical problems, recommend solutions, and advise on changes in procedures.
Visit and confer with material and component vendors to gather information on supply quality and vendor capability.
Participate in product design review processes to ensure quality assurance of newly designed and manufactured products.
Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to the quality system.
Review technical publications and stay abreast of industry developments.
Investigate customer complaints concerning quality.
Confere with sales and marketing personnel regarding quality assurance programs and customer satisfaction.
Maintain third‑party product certification integrity and manage inspection processes with certification organizations.
Provide technical support for product acceptance functions, clarifying compliance with quality requirements.
Assist in developing new quality standards and maintaining a closed‑loop corrective and preventive action system.
Lead and support QWG’s and NWG’s using LEAN methodologies to eliminate waste.
Apply process improvement tools such as Process Map, Pareto Chart, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA, and Root Cause Analysis.
Establish Control Plans to prevent process backsliding.
Coordinate cross‑functional teams to improve processes.
Support continuous improvement by analyzing C&PA, customer complaints, and RMA’s.
Conduct audits of suppliers to assess capability and compliance.
Engage with customers to ensure specifications are met.
Uphold quality and EHS policies and core values.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Directly supervise Quality Coordinator(s) and collaborate with operations managers on prioritizing their work.
Handle hiring, training, performance appraisal, rewards, discipline, complaint resolution, and problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, a candidate must have:
B.A. or B.S. from a four‑year college or university, or an 2‑year associate degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Manufacturing or service industry background, UL, and government contract experience, with project management knowledge.
Strong literacy in technical journals, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to present information effectively.
Mathematical skills: probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and application of percentages, ratios, and proportions.
Computer skills: Microsoft Office products.
Serviceability with physical demands such as standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to mechanical parts and conditions typical of manufacturing.
Work environment: moderate noise, wet/humid conditions, occasional exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
Travel: up to 10% of the time; international travel and weekend work may be required.
