Job Summary: The Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at East Tennessee State invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, tenure‑track position in Philosophy beginning August 15, 2026. We offer an undergraduate major in Philosophy and are excited to welcome a new colleague to join our program. The successful candidate will teach an upper‑level course in the History of Ancient Philosophy each year and contribute to our broader curriculum. We are especially eager to consider applicants whose teaching and research interests will expand the diversity of our course offerings and engage students in new and dynamic ways. This position carries a 3–3 teaching load, active engagement in research, and participation in the shared service responsibilities of the department.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Evidence of strong undergraduate teaching and course design abilities.
Demonstrated ability to conduct and publish high‑quality philosophical research.
Collaborative approach to departmental service and collegiality.
Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Philosophy at time of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with innovative teaching methods or integrating technology into the classroom.
Salary $61,000.
