Resident Assistants (RAs) are student leaders who live in the residence halls and play a vital role in building safe, inclusive, and engaging communities. As a member of the Housing & Residence Life team, RAs support residents by fostering a welcoming environment, promoting academic success and personal growth, and encouraging involvement on campus. RAs are given training every semester to learn the relevant information to perform their duties effectively.
Primary Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
Create a positive and inclusive community for residents through relationship-building and programming
Serve as a peer resource by providing support, information, and referrals to campus services
Promote a safe living environment by upholding university policies and responding to emergencies
Plan and implement floor- and hall-wide events that encourage connection, learning, and fun
Collaborate with fellow RAs and professional staff to strengthen the residential experience
Serve as a role model who exemplifies the values of leadership, responsibility, and integrity
Conduct regularly scheduled room safety checks, perform resident check-ins/-outs, and attend scheduled staff meetings
Work scheduled shifts at a residential desk and night/weekend duty on a rotating schedule
Various duties as assigned

Qualifications
Qualifications:
At least 2.5 GPA
Sophomore (or above) classification
> 1 semester lived on campus
Enrolled full-time
Good Standing (financially, behaviorally, & academically)
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to balance RA responsibilities and academics
Prior leadership or campus experience preferred but not required
Due to the time commitment of the RA role, student athletes and orientation leaders are not eligible for this position.
Candidates who are offered an RA position must undergo a pre-employment criminal background check as mandated by state law.
