The Chief Nursing Officer (CNO)
provides strategic leadership and is accountable for Nursing and designated clinical operations departments in accordance with Advocate Auroras mission, vision, and values
and in alignment with the Advocate Health enterprise Rewire 2030 vision.
The Chief Nursing Officer : Is a transformational leader focused on patient/consumer centered, high quality, safe, effective, efficient, timely and equitable care. Ensures fidelity to national and Advocate Auroras evidence-based standards of nursing practice excellence. Fosters a culture of excellence and innovation in clinical care, education, research, and the engagement of professional nurses in practice decisions. Advances the nursing profession, fosters continuous professional growth and all levels of leadership development. Committed to health equity, diversity, and inclusion that leads to high quality and positive patient experience outcomes.
Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.
Education Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, and Master's Degree in Nursing, or Master's Degree in Health Care Administration, or Master's Degree in Business Management. If Masters degree is not in Nursing, then must have a Bachelors or other advanced degree in Nursing.
Experience Required Typically requires 15 years of experience in nursing and health care administration that includes progressive experience in overseeing nursing practices and operations for a medical center within a large complex healthcare organization and developing and maintaining quality nursing programs. Typically requires 5 years of progressive leadership experience in management of clinical staff and budgets. Previous CNO level experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Skills and demonstrated experience in developing, facilitating, and leading nursing programs and initiatives which align with organizational goals and objectives. Comprehensive knowledge of effective best practice in nursing operations, regulations, and guidelines. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees, which is necessary to collaborate with management/executives/ other organizations. Skills and demonstrated experience in establishing excellent working relationships and strategic partnering with various teams and executives across a large organization to achieve a shared vision, values, and objectives.
