Job Summary: We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you will provide counseling and support to individuals struggling with substance abuse issues in a detox facility. Your role will involve conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and implementing therapeutic interventions to help clients on their journey to recovery.

Responsibilities: - Conduct comprehensive assessments to determine the severity and nature of substance abuse issues - Develop individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals - Provide counseling and support to clients through individual sessions, group therapy, and family therapy - Utilize evidence-based therapeutic techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and motivational interviewing (MI) - Monitor client progress and make adjustments to treatment plans as necessary - Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care for clients - Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with HIPAA regulations - Stay up-to-date with current research and best practices in the field of substance abuse treatment

Requirements: - Associates, Bachelor's or Master's degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, or related field - Certification or licensure as a Substance Abuse Counselor (e.g., LSAA, LADAC) - Proven experience providing counseling or therapy in a substance abuse setting - Knowledge of behavioral therapy techniques and interventions - Familiarity with group therapy dynamics and facilitation skills - Understanding of co-occurring disorders such as PTSD and the ability to provide appropriate care - Strong communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds - Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team in a hospital or clinical setting - Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding confidentiality and patient care
