Since 1969, Lakeside has been the premier provider of specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in the Memphis and Mid-South region. The 365-bed facility is one of the largest free‑standing psychiatric hospitals in the United States. We are located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serving as the setting for the treatment of children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Lakeside’s comprehensive programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression and anxiety, mental illness and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse.
Job Description The UM Coordinator possesses knowledge of psychiatric clinical diagnosis and the ability to articulate those indicators professionally. The UM Coordinator evaluates patient medical records to determine severity of patient’s illness and determines the appropriateness of level of care. Serves as liaison for patients and hospital with insurance companies. Negotiates and advocates for patient length of stay and level of care. Oversees utilization review activities with other departments to ensure reimbursement for services provided by the hospital. The UM Coordinator facilitates physician weekly staffing meetings and coordinates with physician’s outpatient offices for the purposes of billing. The UM Coordinator has a working knowledge of all levels of care offered and appropriately manages patient benefits.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors prepared in healthcare professional (Nursing, Counseling, Psychology or Social Work) required, MA / MSW or RN preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years direct psychiatric patient care experience.
Licensure / Certification:
Valid TN RN license, LCSW, or LPC preferred.
Knowledge:
Must possess knowledge of psychiatric care, utilization review, insurance reimbursement procedures, DSM‑V, etc. Advanced computer skills necessary. Strong analytical, organizational, verbal, and written skills required.
