TEKsystems seeks a professional to administer and support a global data communications network. This position involves designing, developing, and optimizing network systems, ensuring all designs are documented and supportable.
As the network expert, you will handle engineering, configuration, deployment, and maintenance across Azure, campus, plant LAN, wireless, WAN/SD‑WAN, and datacenter LAN. You will troubleshoot complex network issues, communicate maintenance and downtime, and develop business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
Responsibilities
Analyze network needs and contribute to design and installation.
Lead project implementations and ensure security compliance.
Monitor network performance and recommend upgrades.
Work a hybrid schedule: 2 days onsite at the Mason, Michigan office and 3 days remote, or vice versa.
Occasional travel to the secondary data center in Grand Rapids.
Qualifications
Experience with OSPF/EIGRP/Spanning Tree protocols.
Experience with BGP and OSPF routing protocols.
Comprehensive knowledge in at least two of the following: Cloud (Azure, AWS) networking, Routing and Switching, Security (Firewalls, Proxy technology), Wireless, Data Center, Video/Voice, SD‑WAN.
Experience implementing and operating a security architecture at enterprise network edges.
Experience creating and maintaining network topology, logical flow, and documentation with Visio or equivalent.
Strong understanding of network QoS methods, markings, and mitigation strategies.
Demonstrated experience researching and resolving issues across networking, telephony, video, security, and wireless domains.
Experience with network sniffers to analyze data and resolve network issues.
Ability to analyze network performance data, identify trends, and recommend modifications or upgrades.
Adaptable in a dynamic, fast‑paced, customer‑focused environment with minimal lead times and competing priorities.
Excellent customer service orientation as a positive solution provider.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for complex technical processes.
Ability to articulate technical and non‑technical information to personnel at varying levels of technical knowledge.
Top Skills
6+ years of Network Engineering experience (Cisco).
Data Center experience: Core Route/Switching (BGP + OSPF).
SD‑WAN experience: Upgrading to version 3.4.
Willing to travel to Grand Rapids as needed.
Nice‑to‑Have
Cisco ACI – preferred experience.
Cisco Out‑of‑Band Management (Opengear).
Wireless Networking.
Azure experience.
Cisco Firepower.
Zscaler.
Pay & Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 – $70.00 per hour.
