CGS Federal (Contact Government Services) provides a base pay range of
$65,000 - $75,000 per year . The position is a Full‑Time, Mid‑Level role in the Legal Department.
Job Overview CGS is seeking a Law Clerk to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. The role requires expertise in litigation support tasks such as cite checking, document review, legal research, and various other relevant duties.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Works under the direction of a Project Supervisor or Project Manager.
Performs complex legal research for the trial staff.
Assists in preparing draft legal documents (motions, briefs, memoranda of law, etc.).
Reviews and conducts research for Release of Information (ROI).
Reviews new cases and researches pertinent laws.
Edits previously submitted final decisions and writes/researches legal opinions on new cases.
Edits and reviews cases for issuance.
Responds to citizen letters.
Reviews AMICUS briefs.
Briefs attorneys regarding legal issues, theories and draft statement of facts.
Assists attorneys with all phases of litigation.
Cite checking via online legal research tools (Westlaw and Lexis) and Bluebook.
Qualifications
Requires a Juris Doctor (JD) degree or current attendance at an ABA‑accredited law school with at least one year of study, or an equivalent level of legal training or education.
Requires solid working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and research resources.
Thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
Extensive experience with cite checking and Bluebook.
Experience performing complex legal research.
Must have hands‑on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
Ability to consistently deliver high‑quality work under extreme pressure.
Ideally, You Will Also Have
Experience working in a governmental and/or litigation support environment.
Experience with Relativity, strongly preferred.
Publication of legal writings preferred.
Participation in Law Review preferred.
Current or active clearance.
