Program and Training Specialist to provide training and consultative (TaC) services to local school district. Essential Functions
Collaborating with the classroom team (s) (teachers, instructional assistants, support staff and program supervisor), parents and outside consultants to support the initiatives of the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and, specifically, the Bureau of Special Education. Assisting classroom team(s), parents and outside consultants, and other Early Childhood Services Program staff and parents, as directed by the program supervisor, in the development and application of the philosophy of positive behavioral supports and which are consistent with PDE regulations. Adapting and instructing general education teachers with regard to classroom curriculum and typical classroom environments to support all learners, including the design, training and follow-up support of co‑teaching teams. Instructing classroom(s) staff and parents, and other program staff and parents, as directed by the program supervisor. Designing data collection instruments and implementing data collection procedures to measure both individual student progress and overall program effectiveness to assist district and Intermediate Unit teachers and paraeducators. Assisting school districts in the application for specific grants to address the initiatives identified by PDE. Serve as a member of school district School Improvement Teams to address issues of Adequate Yearly Progress particularly as they relate to the special education subgroup. Provide training to groups of professional and paraprofessionals, provide job‑embedded coaching for individual staff and respond to the overall needs as identified by the special education contact within the school districts. Serve as the Single Point of Contact for an identified school district within the county providing coordination of TaC training as requested. Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, Communications, or Related Human Services Field is required. Master’s level coursework in curriculum, psychology, education or related human services field is beneficial. Pennsylvania Department of Education certificate in Special Education is required. Knowledge and experience related to curriculum and development of accommodations, data collection procedures, and inclusive practices with students with disabilities. Ability to work collaboratively with staff members, parents and agency personnel. Knowledge of Early Childhood, Elementary, and General Education Curriculum. Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable): Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.
