Job Description
RESPEC is looking for a highly experienced System Administrator to help support our federal client by maintaining and optimizing mission‑critical EHR systems and the infrastructure behind them. You will support Microsoft and Linux operating systems, enterprise data centre operations, virtualization platforms, and cloud/win infrastructure. You’ll operate with a security‑first mindset, resolve complex problems independently, and serve as a subject‑matter expert on enterprise IT projects while mentoring junior staff.
What You’ll Do
Provide Tier II/III technical support; mentor and guide lower‑tier staff.
Administer Microsoft and Linux operating systems and Microsoft enterprise management products.
Plan, install, test, troubleshoot, and maintain Windows and cloud infrastructure for EHR systems and applications.
Manage backup and recovery operations for the Data Operations Centre (DOC).
Perform system patching, performance tuning, upgrades, and resource optimisation.
Administer and maintain VMware environments.
Implement and maintain physical security controls and tools for enterprise data centres.
Utilise DCIM (Data Centre Infrastructure Management) tools and enterprise monitoring systems.
Develop automation and scripts using PowerShell, Visual Basic, .NET, C#, or similar scripting languages.
Enforce security programmes, policies, and procedures to protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems, networks, and data.
Produce and maintain technical documentation, project artefacts, operational guides, and reports.
Qualifications Required
Associate degree, technical institute certificate, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; relevant certifications or additional experience may substitute for degree.
5+ years of IT experience, including 3+ years supporting server/data‑centre environments.
Experience supporting federal government IT systems; preference for EHR system support.
Eligibility for federal suitability clearance.
Preferred
Experience with federal EHR platforms (e.g., IHS RPMS, VA VistA, DoD CHCS).
Experience with DCIM tools, enterprise monitoring, and automation frameworks.
Industry certifications in system administration, virtualisation, and/or information security.
Key Skills
Windows and Linux server administration; Microsoft enterprise management tools.
VMware administration and virtualisation best practices.
Backup/recovery operations, patch management, performance tuning, capacity planning.
Scripting/automation with PowerShell, VB, .NET, C#; infrastructure‑as‑code mindset.
Data centre operations, physical security, and DCIM tools.
Security and compliance in federal environments (HIPAA, FISMA, NIST 800‑53).
Documentation and communication across technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Work Environment
Remote‑first; occasional travel may be required by the client.
Operate within a highly regulated environment with strict security and compliance standards.
