Job Summary Responsible for providing support to Public Safety operations at CW facilities. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: patrol assigned areas of facilities and grounds; respond to emergent situations and calls for service; perform inspection tours and investigate incidents; perform Weapon Screening services; secure property/evidence; liaison with MRMC Campus Public Safety/Security departments and local, state, and federal law enforcement.
Essential Functions
Patrol assigned areas of facilities and grounds by foot and vehicle according to an established schedule and investigate unusual occurrences.
Investigate and write incident reports on a wide variety of security‑related incidents, including crimes committed on the property, injuries sustained on the property, and actual or potential losses of hospital, employee, patient or visitor property.
Assist Public Safety Dispatchers in the Communication Center as needed and dispatch appropriate personnel to perform security assignments.
Respond to emergency situations, including crowd control, disturbance resolution, verbal and physical intervention, firefighting duties, and combatting disruptive patients.
Perform Weapon Screening services at designated locations, secure property/evidence as directed, and liaise with public safety departments and law enforcement.
Question or detain suspicious individuals or criminal violators; restrain disorderly, combative, or injurious individuals according to established training standards.
Badge and screen visitors per the visitation policy; provide wayfinding and escort employees, visitors, clients, and patients to all areas of the hospital and facility.
Maintain current knowledge of CW policy and procedures through regular review of internal communications and attendance at relevant meetings.
Education
High School graduate or GED or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required.
Post‑high‑school coursework in criminal justice or related field preferred.
Experience
1+ years previous customer service experience required.
1+ years of experience as a uniformed security officer in healthcare security, public safety, corporate security, law enforcement, and/or military service preferred.
1+ years of experience performing weapon screening preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Acceptable driving record, ability to be insured by CHHS carrier.
Ability to successfully complete all required competency training processes.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Intermediate computer skills (PC, Microsoft Office, Epic, CAD, Incident Reporting, Surveillance Systems).
Analytical skills for inspecting, responding, and managing emergent situations.
Certification or ability to complete IAHSS Basic certification within 6 months of hire.
Certification or ability to complete department training in Defensive Tactics for Security (DTS) within 3 months of hire.
Physical Capacity Exam (PCE) compliance.
Proficiency in physical/verbal intervention techniques and use of security equipment.
Licenses and Certifications
BLS‑Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (American Heart Association / American Red Cross / National Safety Council) within 90 days required.
Driver’s License – State of Wisconsin required.
Marcus Crisis Prevention Program (MCPP) Trainer – Marcus Autism Center Crisis Prevention Program within 1 year required.
