is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures to assist in patient diagnosis and treatment. This role includes preparing patients, operating radiographic equipment, ensuring radiation safety protocols, and maintaining accurate patient records. The Radiologic Technologist collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality diagnostic images in an acute care hospital setting. Essential Functions
Prepare patients for imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort Verify patient identification and clinical history prior to imaging procedures Operate radiographic equipment to capture diagnostic images as per established protocols Maintain accurate patient records, including imaging procedures, patient history, and diagnostic outcomes Implement radiation safety measures to minimize patient and staff exposure Assist in the administration of contrast media as directed by a radiologist Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and report issues to appropriate personnel Perform routine quality control checks on imaging equipment to ensure optimal performance Collaborate with radiologists to assess imaging quality and adjust techniques as needed
Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to infection control guidelines Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
Strong knowledge of radiographic procedures, anatomy, and radiation safety protocols Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in high-stress, emergency situations Proficiency in using radiographic imaging equipment and electronic medical record systems Strong attention to detail and accuracy in imaging and documentation Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and maintaining ARRT certification Qualifications
Education
Associate of Radiologic Technology required Bachelor of Radiologic Technology preferred Licenses/Certifications
Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) required State Radiologic Technologist License required Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire Experience
1 year of experience in diagnostic radiology preferred Seniority level
