Job Summary Responsible for assisting in all aspects of a Division I softball program: game preparation, coaching, player conditioning, recruitment, program administration, academic integrity, and donor/alumni relations.

The assistant coach must officiate NCAA, conference, and university regulations to ensure departmental compliance.

Responsibilities

Assist in creating and implementing effective match, practice, and conditioning plans.

Work with the Head Coach to develop drills and strategies for player improvement and monitor strength and conditioning programs.

Provide hitting development and instruction, using technology for individual and team progress.

Assist with recruiting within admissions, financial aid, and regulatory standards.

Maintain a recruiting database and arrange on‑campus visits.

Carry out administrative responsibilities of the softball program efficiently.

Ensure fiscal responsibility by adhering to the program’s budget and university guidelines.

Track program expenditures, revenues, travel arrangements, and finances.

Coordinate with department areas (equipment room, facilities) for schedule communication.

Support external relations and development staff with promotion and events.

Assist media relations with media requests.

Assist ticket operations and game‑day managers to enhance fan experience.

Assist development with donor and alumni relations, including fundraisers and special events.

Abide by all conference, department, university, and NCAA regulations and help ensure compliance.

Attend all compliance seminars and reviews.

Required Qualifications

Associate's degree from an accredited institution or equivalent education/experience.

Current, valid, unrestricted driver's license.

Current CPR/AED certification.

Two (2) years of relevant coaching experience at a post‑secondary program or professional level.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

At least three (3) years of collegiate or professional coaching experience.

Basketball knowledge of coaching techniques and best practices (optional).

Abilities

Work effectively in a diverse environment and build relationships with athletes, staff, administrators, alumni, and the public.

Organize and manage program facets: recruiting, scouting, instruction, budgeting, academic monitoring, and daily operations.

Lead independently and within a team; maintain confidentiality.

Communicate clearly with athletes, coaches, and university administration.

Maintain a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Travel required.

Handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.

Possess knowledge of NCAA and university compliance policies.

Proficient with Microsoft Office and related computer applications.

Strong customer service and phone/email etiquette.
