Position Overview Oni-Orisan Lab - Assistant Specialist - Computational Lab
Department of Clinical Pharmacy, University of California, San Francisco
The Oni-Orisan Lab has two major interests: establishing pharmacogenetic predictors of statin efficacy and safety, and advancing pharmacogenomic discovery and validation in historically excluded populations.
We hire an assistant specialist to manage, analyze large datasets containing electronic health records, genomic data, drug regimens, and clinical outcomes.
Responsibilities
Generate drug response phenotypes (e.g., genotype/phenotype development)
Construct longitudinal data sets for further analyses
Create visualization plots to characterize the data
Conduct inferential statistical analyses
Prepare and analyze requested data analytics; archive code for future use
Play an integral role in advancing pharmacogenomics knowledge
Requirements 12‑month commitment. No teaching responsibilities. Specialists are expected to use professional expertise to make scientific contributions and may participate in university and public service.
Required Qualifications
MA/MS (or equivalent) or bachelor’s degree in Health Data Science with ≥3 years of research experience
1 year of experience in a research setting (including during education)
Proficiency in statistics, data analysis, research methods, and statistical packages such as SPSS, SAS, R, or related
Prior experience constructing complex, longitudinal data sets, conducting inferential statistics, and coding
Knowledge of large dataset management, data analysis, and data visualization
Experience in statistical analyses on large datasets containing EHRs, genomic data, drug regimens, and clinical outcomes
Training/experience in biostatistics, pharmacogenomics, cardiology, and precision medicine
Excellent time management and project completion on deadline
Strong verbal and written communication; effective presentation skills; good organizational and interpersonal skills
At least one peer‑reviewed publication or submitted publication under review
Self‑motivated, positive attitude, strong attention to detail
Availability Monday‑Friday business hours; on‑site 3 days per week (Tuesday‑Thursday)
Preferred Qualifications
MA/MS degree (or equivalent)
