Locum need for Board Certified Emergency Medicine provider in Polacca, AZ (Open to ANY state license)

Board Certified Emergency Medicine physicians to provide emergency medicine care at a comprehensive Indian Health Service facility in the Southwest. This facility is in Polacca AZ in a rural, tribal community in Northeastern Arizona. The facility has about 13,500 annual patient visits and offers 24 hours of physician coverage.

Requirements

ABEM certified

ATLS, ACLS, BLS, PALS

Active, unrestricted license and DEA from ANY state or U.S. territory

Not had a lapse in practice > 6 months leading up to assignment

Annual Covid and Flu vaccination or exemption

About the location

Approximately 13,500 annual patient visits – 7,000 from Hopi and Navajo tribes

Strong Navajo and Hopi cultural traditions exist within the communities, offering an opportunity to learn the Navajo and Hopi languages or traditional Native American medicine

The service units are located near the Grand Canyon National Park, with excellent opportunities for photography and outdoor recreation

Nearest airports: Flagstaff Pulliam Regional (2‑hour drive), Albuquerque International Airport (4‑hour drive)

Practice Description :

Typical number of patients per day: 20‑30/day, 10‑20/night

EMR: RPMS

Schedule: 12‑hour shifts, 7 a‑7 p / 7 p‑7 a

Solo coverage – no APP backup

7 bed ED

Imaging: Sonosite in ED, imaging read off‑site, CT, MRI and Ultrasound available limited hours

Trauma patients: Major trauma, acute surgical emergencies and high‑risk obstetric patients are transported to Flagstaff Medical Center

The emergency room operates like a free‑standing ER, 24‑hours a day, and Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANE) responders are always available with specialty services
