Overview

• Department: Laboratory
• Schedule: 8‑hour shifts, 7:45 am – 4:45 pm; alternating 3 shifts one week and 2 shifts the following week; every other weekend and rotating holidays.
• Facility: Healing Arts Pavillion
• Location: Plainfield, IL 60586

Responsibilities

1. Perform skin puncture or venipuncture on patients of all ages to obtain blood specimens for laboratory analysis.
2. Conduct computer data entry, filing, telephone communication, and other clerical duties.
3. Possess knowledge of laboratory test terminology.
4. Demonstrate good communication skills and telephone etiquette when greeting patients and visitors.
5. Use proper phlebotomy technique for specimens from newborns to geriatric patients.
6. Process microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank specimens.
7. Process specimens for referral to reference laboratories.
8. Stock routine supplies.
9. Maintain cleanliness of storage areas, trays, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers, and work areas.
10. Process or load specimens on automated laboratory instruments in accordance with established policy and procedures.
11. Assist with sample pickups at hospitals/OR, assist lab specialties in sorting samples, inventory management, supply ordering, mail pick‑up/delivery, faxing, answering phones, and product deliveries.
12. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the department manager/director.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
• Current and valid state certification preferred.
• BLS certification within 45 days of hire and maintained current.
• Minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.

Pay Transparency

Saint Joseph Medical Center – Joliet offers competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. Pay estimates range from $16.00 to $23.17 per hour, inclusive of wages, benefits, and other compensation. The exact starting compensation will be determined at the time of hiring based on skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.
