Position Summary The Associate Director of Family Learning and Elementary Programs leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of dynamic learning experiences for children in grades K‑5 and their families. This role ensures that seasonal camps and year‑round family programming are inclusive, joyful, and rooted in research‑based practices that center curiosity, community, and equity.
Responsibilities
Day‑to‑day operations of elementary camp programs – scheduling, assigning teaching spaces, managing supplies and materials, and responding promptly to operational challenges.
Transportation logistics – planning bus schedules, liaising with providers, and communicating with families and staff to ensure timely and safe pick‑up and drop‑off.
Tracking enrollment data and attendance trends to forecast demand and adjust staffing levels, student group assignments, and facility usage.
Collaborating with program leaders to manage waitlists and accommodate last‑minute changes.
Partnering with the Director of Business Strategy and Marketing to develop and implement targeted marketing and outreach campaigns.
Maintaining documentation of all operational procedures, registration processes, safety protocols, and compliance requirements.
Ensuring all program activities adhere to institutional policies, regulatory standards, and best practices for educational programming and child safety.
Recruiting, screening, and selecting qualified instructors; conducting orientation, training, performance evaluations, professional development, and addressing performance issues.
Participating in strategic planning and development of public educational programs, including partnership identification and community engagement.
Assisting in the development of strategic marketing and fundraising plans and aligning outreach efforts with organizational priorities.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to design, revise, and implement developmentally appropriate STEM learning experiences for children and families.
Experience recruiting, training, and supervising a diverse team of educators, interns, and volunteers with inclusive practices.
Strong organizational and project management skills for scheduling, staffing, and long‑term strategy.
Ability to collect, analyze, and apply participant data and evaluation findings.
Understanding of coordination with Marketing, Business Strategy, Visitor Experience, and Operations, and adherence to university policies.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Experience working with marketing or outreach teams to develop enrollment strategies and track sales goals.
Ability to manage program budgets, forecast revenue, monitor expenditures, and reconcile costs.
Proficiency in business software such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
Continuing education in early childhood education, family learning, child development, STEM education, or informal education (equivalent experience acceptable).
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training.
Salary & Benefits The budgeted annual salary range for this position is $93,000.00 – $95,000.00. This is a 1‑year, full‑time (40 hours/week), contract appointment that is eligible for UC benefits with the possibility of extension. This is an exempt monthly‑paid position.
Annual salary range: $93,000.00 – $95,000.00.
Eligible for UC benefits with possibility of extension.
