About the Facility and Position Three Rivers Midlands is a comprehensive behavioral health facility treating children and adolescents through residential and rehabilitative behavioral health services (RBH). We treat males and females ages 11-18 for a wide spectrum of psychiatric issues, addictive behaviors, and chemical dependencies.

Responsibilities The Residential Counselor (RC) works closely with all members of the residential and clinical treatment team. The RC plays an integral part in assuring that the resident program schedule and resident master treatment plan (MTP) are carried out as planned by the team. The RC performs various duties assisting nurses in the psychiatric and physical treatment and care of residents in accordance with established methods and procedures of the facility. The RC interacts closely with residents, engaging them in various activities and events throughout the treatment day, and maintains therapeutic boundaries. The position is a full‑time evening role (3 pm – 11:30 pm) with rotating weekends; fully qualified RCs are assigned one Mandatory Stay shift per week.

Qualifications

High school diploma required; Bachelors degree in psychology or related field strongly preferred with at least 1 year of direct care experience working with adolescents and children in a residential treatment facility, educational or juvenile setting.

Valid SC Driver’s License preferred.

Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.

Knowledge of therapeutic relationships, therapeutic processes, adolescent growth and development, limit‑setting and behavior management.
