District Advisor, Community Engagement (ID 2936)
The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a District Advisor, Community Engagement for the Whole Child and Community Design department of the Student Services and Programs division. The job advises, provides technical assistance, develops, and disseminates resources to local educational agencies (LEAs) as part of the California Community Engagement Initiative (CEI) 2.0 and program practices. The vacancy will support SDCOE's leadership role in the statewide CEI, a $100+ million California Department of Education program designed to build authentic partnerships between schools, families, and communities to improve student outcomes. Some travel throughout the state is required. The vacancy is grant-funded through June 30, 2029.

Whole Child and Community Design is a commitment to honoring diverse voices, leveraging community relationships, and ensuring the well-being and success of every child. SDCOE operates one of eight regional technical assistance centers that support local LEAs with community schools planning, implementation, capacity building, and organization, and helps districts implement culturally relevant practices and build equitable systems that create conditions for all members of the school community to thrive.

Responsibilities Job Summary
The District Advisor, Community Engagement advises, provides technical assistance, develops, and disseminates resources to LEAs as part of CEI 2.0 and related program practices. The role supports SDCOE's leadership in the statewide CEI to build authentic partnerships between schools, families, and communities and to improve student outcomes.
Qualifications Education and Experience
Education:
A master’s degree in education, education administration, or related field; and
Experience:
At least four (4) years of experience in a site, district, or county-level administrative educational setting, designing and delivering high-quality, professional learning that improved student outcomes. Experience with diverse student and adult learner populations is required. Professional development leading equity, diversity, inclusion, and/or whole-child initiatives for a school district is highly preferred.
Equivalency:
A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in education, education administration, or related field and at least four (4) years of experience in a district-level administrative educational setting, designing and delivering high-quality, professional learning that improved student outcomes. Experience with diverse student and adult learner populations is required. Professional development leading whole-child and/or community school initiatives for a school district is highly preferred.
