Position Overview Performs the primary functions of a Registered Nurse in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of all patients in the Pre‑Op interview. The RN will be responsible for meeting the standards required by AANA, AORN, JCAHO, GHS and other regulating agencies for managing Pre‑Op /PACU patient needs. Basic EKG interpretation and PALS within six months. An RN with experience will receive a competency‑based preceptorship and complete competency validation, current ACLS and PALS (or will obtain within six months of employment). This position will be considered to be part of the Outpatient arena with all accompanying job requirements. The RN will process information in the Center's computer and information system as required in performing job responsibilities. Able to assist in OPS, PACU, and ENDO as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Responsible for meeting the standards required by JCAHO, GHS, and other regulating agencies for managing all assigned personnel, supplies, and equipment in the practice.

Process information on the GHS’ Health Information System as required in performing job responsibilities.

Assist providers in all areas of patient care in the practice including but not limited to pre and post exam needs, educating patients for pre‑and post‑operative care to optimize surgical outcomes, independently triage patient messages and phone calls, assisting office coordinator and surgery scheduler with prioritizing scheduling needs for both clinic and OR.

Responsible for wound care management including communication with providers, documentation in the EMR, and ordering supplies.

Will work closely with the director assuming responsibility for training/continuing education for all clinical staff.

Aid in establishing protocols and processes for the specialty practices.

Qualifications Graduate from an accredited school of nursing with current licensure as a registered nurse in the state of North Carolina. Minimum 3 years’ experience as an RN and 2 of those years in Critical Care. BCLS certification, ACLS, and PALS required. Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing appropriate to the practice setting.

Preferred BSN. Cardiology Experience: outpatient or ambulatory care setting, EKG, ECG, medication administration, pacemaker checks, monitoring applications, triage, etc.
